Things I Want My Daughter to Know!

I caught myself looking back on a picture of our oldest
daughter the other day from when she was a toddler.
It is always so amazing to see how they keep the
traits, mannerisms and emotions they had so young and how they bloom and grow.
Lately, I ‘ve noticed several times when the world has
tried to dampen her spirit and others around her and these thoughts just began to overflow my heart and mind.
There are so many things I’m glad the Lord has taught me about Himself and His love for me over the years. I know you are hearing those same things, but the world seems harsher than it was when I was a child. People groups that we used to be able to trust to treat you in a way that would nurture and grow who you are, don’t. And instead of helping build the person you will become; we have to fight to keep their influence from changing who you are.
I know you see and hear others treating your mother this same way and it may seem as if I don’t care or it doesn’t bother me. It does! It breaks my heart that people can be so cruel. That their lives are so broken, that they feel breaking others will somehow make them feel better. But I've learned some things that help it not change who I am and I hope they are a help to you!

I am loved by God! Not the kind of love that everyone says with their mouths but never acts upon. I mean the kind of love that drove Him to give His own life for me. He has kept me safe and lovingly provided for me every day of my life. There is not a day that He doesn’t know where I am and what I need. Not just what I need, but how I feel and what makes me happy.
He loves you this same way and I promise, no matter what happens in this world of ours, no one can change that or take that away from you!

Choose your friends wisely. Don’t be friends with someone because they give you attention or say nice things about you. Choose friends that have the same heart for God and others that you have. Someone that loves their family and helps others and stands up for those that can’t stand up for themselves. Choose friends that can have just as much fun with their family as they can with anyone. Choose a friend that is the same in front of any crowd of people. Choose friends that are truth tellers and follow through with their promises. Pay attention when someone is not this type of friend and walk away!

God will put a love in your heart for somethings.
Maybe it will be photography, sports or music
or all of these and more. Do what you love.
Don’t let anyone make you feel like those things aren’t good enough
for you. God gives us all desires and gifts and He gives them to us, not others. They are to be enjoyed by us.
You are fierce! Know how special you are to God!!
Shine bright and never be ashamed of who He has made you to be!!!
