Ferocious Reads

Are you a reader?

There are seasons of my life that I read more than others. When I was a receptionist at a car dealership during the summers, I would read 30 + books. These days it's much less. I'll probably read 4-5 books this summer unless, I find a new series:) Sometimes, a new author comes to me, and I can read through everything they’ve written. I'm not sure if you're like that, but there have been several nights where I've started a book and stayed up all night to finish it! Although, I love to read, I don’t read more than one book at a time and I’m nervous to switch authors or types of books.

Every home should have at least one book space if not more.

At least every home of mine😊 Do you have a book nook?

When I was a teacher in Tennessee, we had a used book warehouse that was one of my favorite places to go. There were aisles and aisles of books, movies and music that you could sift through. My classroom was full of books, and we were always having some kind of program for rewarding readers. I’m so sad those in person stores/warehouses are going out of business everywhere. We had one close to our old house that you could fill a box full of books for $20, and we went regularly. The problem with that is if you find several that you like, I don’t want to trade them in. I want to keep them to read later and then your collection grows larger than your space. If only there was a wall of shelves like in Beauty in the Beast that had the floor to ceiling ladder to see all of your books. Is that too much?

My oldest daughter has several of my qualities, good and bad. She did get my love for reading. When she really dove into books, we went to flea markets all over town and looked for any book that had an apple on it:) That was the easiest way I knew to get her to look at books that would tell a story and challenge her reading level as well. We found almost 100 that summer😊 She still has most of them. Some were passed on to her younger sister and some have been gifted to friends and relatives, but they are forever asking for new books from new author with new difficulties. It sure does make a momma’s heart proud.

What are some of your favorite reads?

I’ll leave you with a few of mine:

Sophie’s Heart-Lori Wick

Danger in the Shadows- Dee Henderson

Where the Crawdads sing- (Much better than the movie) Delia Owens

A Penny for your Thoughts – Mindy Starnes Clark

Cry No More- Linda Howard
